WILD AND COUNTRY -- WHAT IS NEW (27 September update)
Open it from the game menu, Life plus, Wild and country, or type /wildcountry.
NATURE JOURNAL: plants and insects from foraging, birds from bird watching, fish from the fish encyclopedia. Fill every page for the Naturalist trophy.
BIRD WATCHING AND THE NIGHT SKY: need binoculars and open sky. Birds by day, the twelve constellations of the star log by night. Birds nest in fully grown Forest Service trees: watch from beside one to find a species you have not seen yet.
FISH ENCYCLOPEDIA: every fish, whether it bites by day, by night or only in rain, its bait and rarity, and which ones are biting right now. Open it with a fish in your bag to log that species.
NATURE SOUND QUIZ: listen and name the bird or animal, up to 15 rounds a day. A 10 streak earns Sharp Ears, 25 earns Keen Naturalist.
SEASONAL MIGRATION, RARE ANIMALS AND PEDIGREES: animals really move with the seasons, a rare pale, dark or giant animal really appears about every three hours to hunt or photograph, and home-bred barn animals keep a three-generation pedigree. Full details on the help page wild_seasons.
STORM CLEANUP: a storm leaves fallen branches on its map; clear them for reputation.
WILDFIRE WATCH: a rare event; volunteers beat the fire down from 100 to 0 before it burns itself out.
SNOWMAN AND SLEDDING: a snowman uses 5 handfuls of snow (10 snowmen earn Snowman Builder); sledding wakes you up, every 2 minutes.
THE VILLAGE ZOO: volunteer keeper shifts, 25 points each, up to 4 a day, 15 minutes apart. 20 shifts earn Zookeeper.
THE CAT CAFE: 40 points a visit, every 30 minutes, gives you energy.
WILDLIFE REHABILITATION AND THE SHELTER: up to 6 cases a day, 20 minutes apart; stray animals that come in go to the shelter, where you can adopt them free at your own barn. 25 cases earn Wildlife Carer; three adoptions earn a rosette trophy.
THE PIGEON POST: a note of up to 150 letters to any player, 30 points, up to 10 a day, arrives after 2 to 7 minutes, waits for offline players.
DOG WALKING: 45 points a walk of about 2 minutes, up to 6 a day. 50 walks earn Dog Walker.
YOUR SONGBIRD: a songbird cage costs 800 points (permanent). Use it from your bag and people near you hear it sing. Feed it once a day: every 3 days in a row it learns another song, up to 10. 30 feeding days earn Songbird Keeper.
YOUR ANIMALS (barn menu): each animal has a More about page: its age and life stage (elderly animals get gentle senior care), its breeding record (home-bred or not), a daily obedience drill (sit, come, fetch: trust up by 3), vaccination by the vet (150 points, 30 days without falling sick), pet clothing (bandana, bow tie or sweater, 150 points each; taking it off returns it to your bag), and for a dog, guide duty: it leads you step by step to your own barn on the map you are on. The barn menu also has a coop page for your egg streak. The animal show now also gives a Most Skilled ribbon to the best-trained entrant.
RIDING CLUB: the club menu now says straight away if a horse's shoes are worn or it is tired.
BEEKEEPING: a hive short of flowers can fall sick and stop making comb. Bee medicine (120 points at the Wild and country counter) cures it.
FORAGING: a basket can now turn up an insect specimen; use it to press it into your journal.
THE WEATHER RADIO (500 points, permanent): the current weather, the storm outlook for two hours and the forecasters' bulletin, anywhere.
