The transit network
Life in Nature has many ways to get around beyond your own two feet and your
car. This page tells you where to find every one of them. Slash transit (or
slash trs) opens the transit network menu; you will also find it in the game
menu under Life plus, Transit network. Every journey below can be started
from that menu.
The intertown underground (new)
An underground line between the towns, with five stations: Bayside and
Midtown in Palmera Bay, the Village, Copper Hills and Frontier Town. Each
station is right under the Countryside Railway platform of the same name, so
it is also an interchange. Stand on the platform, open the Intertown
Underground menu (slash underground or slash metro) and pick where you want
to go. The doors close, every stop on the way is announced with a chime, and
at the end you climb the stairs back up to that town's railway platform. A
stop takes about ten seconds.
A single ride is 12 ln point, any distance. A monthly pass is 350 ln point
and makes every ride free for 30 days; you can renew it from the same menu
(up to 45 days ahead), and the game reminds you when you log in three days
before it runs out and again once it has expired. Your first ride earns a
trophy; fifty rides earn the title Seasoned Commuter.
The coastline night sleeper (new)
A sleeper train from the same five platforms, with a private compartment of
your own. Open the Night Sleeper menu (slash sleeper), book a berth to any
other station for 60 ln point and settle in: the scenic run along the coast
is narrated as it goes, past the harbour lights, the cliffs, the lighthouse,
farmland and the long iron bridge. While you ride, open the sleeper menu
again (it is also first in the transit menu) to order dinner to your
compartment for 20 ln point, a proper hot meal that fills you up, or to turn
in for the night: you sleep until the train arrives and wake up rested. The
journey takes about a minute awake. Your first journey earns a trophy;
twenty journeys earn the title Night Traveller.
Paragliding
A free path just off Main Street in the village, at 445, 65 on the village
map, climbs to Windward Bluff: press shift and enter there. Follow the cliff
path up to the launch platform and press shift and enter to fly. Every flight
lands you safely in the meadow below; the only question is how the wind
treats you. Most flights are a smooth, quiet glide. Sometimes a warm thermal
lifts you higher and carries you further, sometimes a gust cuts the flight
short, but you always come down safely. Up to five flights a day earn ln
point (a smooth glide pays 15, a thermal 25, a gust-shortened flight 8);
after that you can keep flying just for the feel of it. Catching a thermal
sometimes leaves you with a piece for the Logged Thermals collection. Your
first flight earns a trophy; twenty-five flights earn the title Windward
Glider. Slash paraglide opens the paragliding page.
Ship captaincy
Seabright pier in Palmera Bay has a harbourmaster's office. A short three
question quiz about seamanship (a simple multiple-choice menu, no typing, and
you can try again any time) earns you a captain's license: open the ship
captaincy menu (slash captain) to take it. Once licensed, stand at the ferry
dock at the far end of the same pier and take the wheel from that menu: you
sail a timed round trip out to Lighthouse Cay and back, with the captain's
announcements and the ship's horn sounding across the pier. Up to ten paid
crossings a day earn 25 ln point each and standing as a captain; ten
crossings earn the title Ferry Captain, fifty earn Senior Ferry Captain, and
two hundred earn Harbourmaster of Seabright.
Lighthouse cay (new island)
Anyone can cross to Lighthouse Cay for free: press shift and enter at the
ferry dock at the end of Seabright pier. On the island, walk to the foot of
the lighthouse and press shift and enter to meet Old Marek, the keeper. He
has stories of the coast to tell, and once a day he lets you help light the
lamp, for 10 ln point and a little reputation in Palmera Bay. Help him on ten
days and you earn the title Friend of the Lighthouse. The jetty on the north
side takes you back to the pier.
The other rides
The city metros: the Undervault Metro runs six stations under the caves
(slash heights, then Undervault), and Neon Harbour, which you fly to from the
Skyport, has its own Red and Blue lines.
The Countryside Railway links Palmera Bay, the Village, Sunflower Valley,
Copper Hills and Frontier Town, with a dining car, an observation car,
tickets and a day rover pass: slash rail, slash train, slash timetable.
Your own boat: a rowing or sailing boat for crossing to Pearl Island and
fishing the deep water, timed by the real wind: slash sea.
Cable cars: the Cragspire funicular climbs to the mountain village in four
stops (slash heights, then Cragspire), and the Skyrail cable car runs at
Skyrail City, a destination you fly to.
Dog sleds: Musher Tuva runs a sled to the ice caves at Glacier Station (fly
there, then slash north), and at Frostbell Hamlet you can adopt a husky team
of your own and drive it with real musher commands.
Notes
Nothing here costs ln credit. If you leave the game in the middle of a
flight, a crossing or a train ride, you are simply put down safely where you
started, with everything still in your bag; nobody is stranded.
