How good you are at a trade
Where to see it
Open the game menu, choose Village life, then Work and money, then Work and jobs, and choose "How good you are at each trade". It lists every trade you have done any work in, what level you are at, and how many jobs it takes to reach the next one.
How it goes up
Doing the work is the only thing that moves it. Every job you finish counts, whether it is the trade you are signed up to or not. Fishing makes you better at fishing even if you are paid as a miner.
The levels
There are ten levels. Level one is a beginner. From level two you are improving, from four practised, from six seasoned, from eight expert, and level ten is a master.
The jobs needed are: level two at a hundred jobs, three at three hundred, four at six hundred, five at a thousand, six at fifteen hundred, seven at twenty-one hundred, eight at twenty-eight hundred, nine at thirty-six hundred, and ten at forty-five hundred. Level ten is meant to take months. It is a long road on purpose.
What a level actually does
This is the important part. Being good at something never makes you produce MORE. It makes what you produce BETTER. A skilled fisher lands a heavier fish, not more fish. A skilled cook turns out a finer meal from the same ingredients. A skilled beekeeper draws a richer comb.
That is deliberate. It means skill is worth having and worth showing off, without a handful of long-standing players flooding the world with goods and pushing everybody else out of the market.
Milestone rewards
The first time you reach certain levels in a trade you are paid once for it, in every trade separately. Level three pays 200 points and level five pays 400. Level seven pays 700 points and gives you the seasoned title for that trade, for example seasoned fisher. Level ten pays 1000 points and the master's title. Titles can be shown next to your name from Village life, Your standing, Your titles. These rewards share a limit of 1000 points a day with the other login and club rewards; anything over is kept for you and paid on the following days.
Trades that count
Fisher, miner, farmer, beekeeper, cook, cleaner, forager, police, barber, tailor, restaurant cook, barman, musician, watchman, teacher and guide.
Master and apprentice
Separate from this, and worth knowing about: under Work and money you can take a beginner on as an apprentice, or find somebody to learn from. That is a person-to-person arrangement. Your level here is what tells a beginner you are worth learning from.
CAREER RANKS, THE JEWELLER TRADE AND MORE (23 September 2026)
Every trade now has a career ladder built on your mastery level: Apprentice, Journeyman, Craftsman, Expert, Master and Grandmaster. Craftsman, Master and Grandmaster each give a title you can wear, and a Grandmaster gets a medal for the trophy cabinet. Mastery now also helps miners (more rough gems), farmers (more choice harvests), beekeepers (more beeswax) and cooks (more good plates). There is a new trade, the jeweller: cutting and setting gems counts as the shift. Street vendor and jeweller now show in this mastery list. Everything about careers, supply contracts, patron commissions and the village cooperative is on the help page work_trade_and_home_life, and in Village life, More to do, Work, trade and home life (or /lifework).
