New professions
Seven brand new careers, none of them existing anywhere else in the game before
tonight: Firefighter, Veterinarian, Interior Designer, Locksmith, Personal
Trainer, Event Planner and Insurance Agent. Open the New Professions menu from
Village life, More to do, or type /newjobs. Each career also has its own
shortcut command: /fire, /vet, /arc, /lok, /fit, /evt, /ins.
Getting hired
Every career is free to join. Open its menu and choose Get hired: you receive
the career's uniform in your bag and your first rank. Wear the uniform any
time by using it from your bag; using it again takes it off.
Going on duty and finding work
Once hired, go on duty from the career's menu, then choose Find the next job.
If another player has posted a real request for that career, you take it.
If nobody has, you get a walk-in customer instead, so you are never stuck
waiting for other players to be online.
Posting a request
Any player, hired or not, can post a request for a career from that career's
menu (Post a request). A real worker of that career will pick it up and you
get a real result: a design theme for your home, a security upgrade, a spare
key, a training session, a party, an insurance policy, or a vet visit for
your pet. Firefighter calls work a little differently: use /reportfire to
report a fire at your own position, or you can simply be dispatched to one
of fifteen real trouble spots across the village and Palmera Bay.
Firefighter
Go on duty and Find the next job to be sent to a real reported fire or to one
of fifteen curated spots on the village and Palmera Bay maps. Some doors are
jammed: stand close and press shift and enter with your fire axe in your bag
first, then use your fire extinguisher to finish the call. Any player can
report a fire with /reportfire even without being hired. Items: fire_jacket,
fire_helmet, fire_axe, fire_extinguisher, fire_radio. Ranks: Trainee,
Firefighter, Senior Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Fire Chief.
Veterinarian
Treats a real player's pet (posted with a short note) or a walk-in stray.
Listen to the symptom and pick one of three treatments: there is no wrong
answer that ruins your day, every patient leaves better than it arrived.
Items: vet_coat, vet_scanner, vet_medicine_kit, pet_carrier. Ranks: Trainee
Vet, Veterinarian, Senior Veterinarian, Clinic Lead, Chief Veterinarian.
Interior designer
Design a room in one of five styles (cozy, modern, rustic, elegant, playful)
for a real client or a passing villager. The client receives a real home
design look for that style. Collect all five styles for a full set. Items:
designer_smock, blueprint_roll, swatch_book, measuring_tape. Ranks:
Apprentice, Designer, Senior Designer, Lead Designer, Master Architect.
Locksmith
Cuts a spare key (a real keepsake, one of six collectible styles) or fits a
security upgrade (a home security look) for a real client or a walk-in.
Items: locksmith_apron, locksmith_kit, spare_key_blank, security_upgrade_kit.
Ranks: Apprentice, Locksmith, Senior Locksmith, Master Locksmith.
Personal trainer
Runs a real client or a walk-in through a full session: warm-up, a timed
circuit and a cool-down. The client gets a real refreshing top-up. Items:
trainer_vest, training_whistle, stopwatch, resistance_band. Ranks: Trainee
Coach, Personal Trainer, Senior Trainer, Elite Coach, Master Trainer.
Event planner
Throws a real little party (birthday, anniversary, welcome or thank you) for
a client and up to three named guests; everyone online hears the cheer.
Items: planner_blazer, event_clipboard, invitation_set, party_streamers.
Ranks: Assistant Planner, Event Planner, Senior Planner, Lead Planner,
Master of Ceremonies.
Insurance agent
Sells a policy (Basic 30, Standard 50 or Premium 80 ln point premium). A
hidden chance is rolled when you buy it: if bad luck strikes, using your
certificate within 14 days refunds exactly your premium, never more. As an
agent, process real policies for a modest, capped wage. Items: agent_coat,
policy_ledger, agent_briefcase, safety_pin_badge, policy_certificate. Ranks:
Junior Agent, Agent, Senior Agent, Underwriter, Chief Underwriter.
Pay and ranks
Pay for on-duty work is small and capped per career per day. Experience never
resets and each promotion unlocks a new title you can wear from the titles
menu. None of this ever creates ln_credit.
