The natural history museum
A museum in the village, on the east side of Main Street between the music store and the bakery cafe. Press shift enter at its doors to go in. Every exhibit in it was given by a player. Menu: slash museum, or the living world menu (slash world).
The six halls
From the entrance hall walk north into the Grand Gallery. On the west side are the Hall of Fishes, the Hall of Minerals and Gems and the Hall of Fossils and Antiquities; on the east side the Hall of the Beasts of the Wild, the Hall of Plants of the World and the Hall of Treasures of the Sea. Each hall has 12 cases, 72 in all, and each case wants one kind of thing: a fish from fishing, an ore or gem from mining, a find from the far lands, an animal from hunting, a plant from foraging, a pearl or coral from diving.
Donating
Give things at the curator's desk in the entrance hall (any exhibit), or inside a hall (its own exhibits): shift enter, then Donate, or slash donate. A gift stays in the museum for good. The first player to fill an empty case has their name on its brass plaque for everyone to hear: 10 merit and 50 points. If the case is already filled, your gift goes to the study collection: 2 merit and 10 points, up to 6 a day (10 for members). At the desk you can fill every empty case you can in one go. Borrowed arena bags cannot be used.
Complete halls
When all 12 cases of a hall are filled, the whole world hears it, and everyone who gave anything to that hall gets the title Founder of that hall. When all 72 cases are filled, everyone with a plaque gets the golden key trophy.
The guided tour
Walk into a hall and the curator welcomes you. Press shift enter anywhere in a hall to hear its cases: select a case to hear its plaque, who gave it and when, a short fact and where to find one if the case is empty.
The curator's requests
Every day the curator asks for 3 things. Bring one to her desk: 30 points and 5 merit on top of the gift, once per request per day. A requested gift is taken even when your study collection limit for the day is reached.
The special exhibition
Each week has a theme, such as Gold and Silver or Voices of the Sea. Every gift of a theme item that week counts on the weekly board; on Monday the top three get a gold, silver or bronze cup for their trophy cabinet.
Your donor book
Your gifts, plaques and merit. Ranks: Friend of the Museum at 10 merit, Patron at 60, Benefactor at 180, Fellow at 400, Honorary Curator at 900; each rank is a title. Every hall is also a collection set: one piece for each kind you have given yourself. Trophies for your first plaque, ten plaques and twenty-five plaques.
Membership
2000 ln point for 30 days, bought in the museum. Members hear a short lecture at the lectern in the lecture hall, east of the entrance hall, every day, then answer 3 questions about the halls: 15 points for each right answer, and the title Scholar of the Museum after ten perfect days. Members may give 10 study pieces a day and hear next week's theme early.
