Life skills
What it is
Life skills gives you small things to do every day with the parts of village life you already know: your health, your bathroom, drinks, your camera, the piano and the music boxes. Each one has a daily goal, a streak for doing it day after day, and a few rewards you only get once.
Open the game menu, choose Village life, then Checks and helpers, then Life skills. The short command is /lifeskills. The menu tells you how many daily goals are still open today, and Your streaks at a glance lists every streak together.
Health and doctoring
Clinic shift: five patients a day come in and tell you how they feel. Choose what is wrong with them, then choose how to treat them. If you get it wrong you are told the right answer, so you learn as you go. Every right answer pays 8 points, or 12 if your job is doctor. A perfect shift pays 20 more, and every seventh day in a row pays 50. The short command is /clinic.
Weekly check-up: once a week, from Monday, have a check-up. If nothing is wrong with you, and you are not hungry, thirsty, hurt, drunk or dirty, you get a clean bill of health and 50 points, more for each fit week in a row. If a doctor is standing next to you, they give the check-up and they are paid too.
Health record: every illness you catch, every cure, every cast somebody puts on you and every check-up is written down, with the date.
Medical career: right answers at the clinic, casts put on other people, cures and check-ups all earn career points. There are seven ranks, from medical student to chief physician, and each new rank pays once.
Bathroom routine
In your own bathroom, or your husband's or wife's, do all six steps in one day: use the toilet, flush, wash your hands at the tap, use the soap, dry your hands on the towel, and have a shower or a bath. The order does not matter. The full routine pays 15 points once a day, and every seventh day in a row pays 50 more. When only one or two steps are left, you are told which.
Once a week, a proper hot bath while the power is on is your spa evening, and pays 30. Any hot bath also warms you right through if you are cold.
You can also check your routine from the bathroom menu itself.
The bar
Bar shift: six customers a day describe the drink they want. Choose the right cocktail. Right answers pay a 10 point tip, and every order teaches you that recipe for your cocktail book, right or wrong. The short command is /bar.
Cocktail book: twelve cocktails, each made from one drink and one mixer, for example young wine with a cup of orange juice. Once a recipe is in your book you can mix it and drink it; it uses up the two things from your bag, does to you what drinking both of them would, alcohol included, and gives you back any empty cups. Taste all twelve to complete the book, which pays 150 points once.
Cocktail of the day: one cocktail each day pays 30 points the first time you mix it that day.
Toasts: raise your glass when two or more other people near you raise theirs within two minutes. Everybody in the toast gets 20 points once a day. The short command is /toast.
Photo challenges
Open your camera, choose Albums, photo challenges, and then Photo challenges of the day and the week.
Every day there is a photo task, such as a selfie or a photo with wildlife in it. It pays 20 points and keeps your photo streak going. Every week there is a harder challenge, such as three animals in one photo, which pays 80. Your photo is checked the moment it is saved.
Animal album: every new kind of wild animal in one of your photos goes into your album. At 5, 10, 20 and 30 kinds you get a reward.
Piano songbook
Pick one of twelve tunes in the songbook, then sit at any piano. You are told the notes by name. Play them in order, in any octave. After a wrong note you are told which note comes next. At the end you get a score and up to four stars. The short command is /songbook.
Your first tune to the end each day is your practice and pays 15 points. The first time you score three stars on a tune pays 30. Finish a tune well while two or more people stand near the piano and it counts as a recital, 40 points once a day.
Music boxes
Listen near any music box that is playing for ten minutes a day: 10 points and a day on your listening streak.
Ask a music box for a song, and every other person who hears it to the end counts as a listen for you on the weekly DJ chart. The top DJ each week gets 200 points.
From a music box menu you can dedicate the song that is playing to somebody, up to five times a day. You find the DJ chart and your streak in the music box menu too.
Limits
Life skills pays at most 600 points a day. If a reward goes over that, the rest is kept for you and paid on a later day. Up to 1500 points can be kept waiting this way. No part of life skills ever gives credits.
