Illness, and keeping it away

How you fall ill

Letting yourself get very hungry or very thirsty, working until you have no energy left, standing in water, or spending a long time deep in the crystal caves. An illness passes on its own in a few hours, or a doctor or the right remedy clears it at once.

The digestive tonic

A small bitter bottle sold for points. Drink one and you will not fall ill for about four hours. Drinking another while the first is still working extends it, but never past eight hours in total, so it is a couple of bottles a day rather than a week bought in one go.

What it does not do

It does not cure. If you are already ill the tonic will tell you so and stay in your bag; use a herb remedy, a herbal salve, or find a doctor, and take the tonic once you are well.

When it works

Now and then you will feel your stomach turn over and then settle. That is the tonic doing its job.
