Goodwill marks and the kindness exchange

Where to find it

Open the game menu, choose Village life, then More to do, then Goodwill. The shortcut is to type /goodwill in the chat.

What goodwill marks are

Goodwill marks are a currency you can only earn by genuinely helping other people. They sit in your bag as goodwill marks. They cannot be given, traded, sold or dropped, and you keep them when you die. They cannot be bought with ln point or ln credit, and they never change back into either. If marks come to you while you are offline, they wait for you and land in your bag when you next log in.

Five ways to earn goodwill marks

1. THE KINDNESS BOARD: post what you need (an item and how many) and wait for another player to bring it to you from their own bag. Helping someone else's request pays goodwill marks, up to three deliveries a day, or five with a parcel satchel.

2. THE MENTOR PROGRAM: players in their first three days can ask for a mentor. A player whose account is at least ten days old can take them on. Meet up in person three separate times, spaced at least ten minutes apart, to finish guiding them, which pays goodwill marks and gives the newcomer a small welcome gift.

3. RESTORATION WORK: six weathered spots around the village, main street and Palmera Bay need tidying up. Press shift and enter at one and stay close for a few seconds to restore it. Each spot can only be restored again after a few hours. Restoring sometimes turns up an old keepsake.

4. LOST AND FOUND: keepsakes found while restoring a weathered spot can be returned to the village historical society from the Goodwill menu, which pays a goodwill mark and a piece towards a collection.

5. THE DONATION CHEST: each week the village asks for a different material (wood, stone, plank, herb or leather). Donate some from your own bag to earn goodwill marks and help the village reach its weekly goal.

You can earn at most 90 goodwill marks a day in total, across all five ways together.

The kindness exchange

Open it from the Goodwill menu. Everything there is paid for with goodwill marks and cannot be bought any other way: tools, home pieces for your community shelf, clothing, pet accessories, and a village title. Two items are on special discount each week, and one of the five ways to earn marks pays a quarter more that week too.

Your profile, ledger and the top list

The Goodwill menu also shows your own ledger (your last fifteen goodwill mark movements), this week's most helpful neighbours, and lets you look up another player's goodwill profile by name.
