Destinations by plane: misty highlands, bayou town and neon harbour
Three new places you can only reach by plane from the Skyport. Every one has its airport in the south, where you land; the departure desk for the flight home is there too. Type /dse for the destinations menu anywhere, or /highlands, /bayou or /neon for one town. In the menu, Things to do lists everything a town offers; if you are not at the right place you hear how to get there. Every place is a zone you can track.
Misty highlands
Glenbrae village is just north of the airport: the Thistle Inn on the east side, the Weaver's Cottage on the west side and Piper Hamish on the village green. Braeside Farm is west of the village; the sheep pastures and the trial field lie north of it. North of the pastures is the heather moor with beehives, the peat bog and the shepherd's bothy. The wild glen with the Ring of Nine Stones is in the far north west. Loch Morven fills the north east, with the boathouse on its west shore. Castle Dunmorra stands on the crag north of the loch.
Herding trials: at the sheep pens, whistle the collie Meg. Come by sends her clockwise, away to me anticlockwise, lie down settles the flock, walk up drives them to the gate. Bring the flock round in front of the gate, then walk them in, in 16 whistles or fewer.
The ghost tour: after dark, join Tour guide Fiona under the castle gate arch and walk the five stops in order, pressing shift enter at each.
The loch boat search: take a rowing boat from the boathouse slip. The echo sounder pings more the closer you are. Row until you are right over something. Every two or three hours the loch stirs for twenty minutes, and then the beast itself can be found. The first to see it is announced to everyone.
The piper's challenge: Hamish plays a phrase from four notes, you type it back as numbers. One more note each round.
Weaving: four highland wool make a tartan scarf at the great loom. Use the scarf to take the chill away; once every twenty minutes it also heals you a little and gives energy.
The bothy hearth: burning a block of peat heals you, gives energy and warms and dries you. The peat glows for ten minutes, and sitting by it again in that time warms and dries you for free.
The Thistle Inn: Morag serves a bowl of hot mutton stew with a scone for 50 ln point, a pot of strong tea for 15 and a dram of highland whisky for 30, all by the fire. The stew fills you up, the tea takes your thirst away, and the whisky goes to your head.
Gathering: wool in the shearing pen, peat at the peat cuttings (bring a shovel), heather honey at the beehives. Morag at the Thistle buys wool and peat for Voyage Tokens and sells honey.
Danger: wolves in the wild glen, boars on the moor, and the sucking bog.
Bayou town
Levee Street runs just north of the airport. On its north side, from west to east: the Blue Heron Jazz Club, Mama Celeste's Kitchen and Thibodeaux Bait and Tackle. Grandma Odile's porch is behind the jazz club. The airboat dock is at the east end of the street. North of town is the bayou: the crawfish traps on Big Muddy channel, the cypress grove in the north west, the deep swamp in the north east.
The airboat ride: 100 ln point with Captain Remy. When you hear a splash out on the water, press shift enter quickly to spot the animal.
The crawfish boil: at the big pot in Mama Celeste's kitchen, with six crawfish. Water, spice, corn and potatoes, then the crawfish, in that order. Then listen: the moment the pot rolls over, press shift enter to pull the basket. Perfect timing gives three bowls. If you walk away, stop or run out of time once the crawfish are in the pot, Mama Celeste saves you one bowl.
Jazz call and response: Bandleader Lou plays a phrase, you type it back, like the piper's challenge.
Storytelling night: after dark, sit on Grandma Odile's porch for a folk tale, then answer her question about it.
The night swamp: after dark more snakes wake in the deep swamp, and pale swamp lights lead people into the water. A bayou lantern from Old Thibodeaux, three Spanish moss and 200 ln point, keeps them away.
Gathering: crawfish from the traps, Spanish moss in the cypress grove.
Neon harbour
The metro has two lines. The Red line runs Airport Terminal, Neon Square, Harbour Front. The Blue line runs Night Market, Neon Square, Arcade Row, Skyline Heights. Change at Neon Square. Press shift enter on a platform, buy tickets from the machine (5 for 100 ln point) and every station is announced on the way.
The Pixel Palace arcade on Arcade Row: Sound Shooter plays a beep ahead of you, to your right, behind you or to your left, and you pick where. Reflex Rush: press shift enter the moment you hear the beep. Each game costs one arcade token (5 for 100 ln point from Kai, or search under the machines). Games pay tickets for prizes, up to 150 tickets a day.
The Skyline Run: take the lift at the foot of Skyline Heights to the roof. Press shift enter at every gap and ledge, but hold still in a gust. Three slips end the run; a neon glowstick gives you one extra life.
The night market: after dark, haggle with Trader Rafi by typing your offers. Offer too little and he sends you away for a few minutes.
Auntie Mei's noodle bar on Harbour Avenue: sit at the counter and eat a bowl of hot noodles for 120 ln point, or take a bowl away for the same price. She also buys bayou crawfish for Voyage Tokens.
Quests and rewards
Eighteen people across the three towns give 29 one-time quests, some of which send you to another town. Quests pay Voyage Tokens, ln point, Voyager Pass XP and items. Activities pay Voyage Tokens and ln point a few times a day each; ln point from repeatable activities is limited per day. Each town has a courier board.
Standing, titles and trophies
Every place by plane remembers you. Your first landing each day, every sight on its sightseeing card, every postcard you send from there, every quest and every victory over its great beasts raise your standing in that place. Three quests done in one place earn the title Friend of that place, six a trophy as its honorary citizen. Your first victory over a great beast such as the Temple Guardian, the Reef Queen or Old Kuma puts a trophy in your cabinet. See the page The travel planner and your travel companion.
