Workshop and road life - player guide
Where to find it
Open the vehicle menu and choose Workshop and road life. It is also in the village life menu under More to do, and the commands /licence, /roadtrip, /dashcam and /roadlife open parts of it directly. Everything here works for cars and for the Kestrel motorcycle.
The performance workshop
The mechanic's bay on the village garage forecourt, around 95 across and 315 up, now fits performance parts as well as fixing damage. Drive in, stop, and open the workshop. There are three parts, each with three levels.
Brakes: every level makes the brakes bite harder, so you stop in a shorter distance. Level three is about a third stronger than standard.
Suspension: every level gives the tyres more grip in corners, so the car skids less when you turn at speed, on tarmac, on dirt and on snow alike.
Gearbox: every level pulls away harder in first and second gear. In a manual car it also lets you change up a little before the top of each gear, instead of winding it right out.
Level one costs 6 Voyage Tokens and 2500 points, level two 14 tokens and 6000 points, level three 28 tokens and 12000 points. Parts belong to you and the model: when a hire ends and you hire the same model again, the parts are still fitted. These parts are separate from the acceleration and top speed tuning in Garage and extras, and the two add together.
Your driving licence
Every driver has a licence with a grade and penalty points. You start as a learner driver. Driving clean, with no offences, moves you up: a provisional licence at 3000 clean squares, a full licence at 15000 with no more than 6 penalty points, advanced driver at 60000 with no more than 3, and master driver at 200000 with a clean licence. Each new grade pays a one-off reward of points and Voyage Tokens.
Penalty points: running a red light 1, crashing into another vehicle 1, hitting a tree 1. Running down an animal gives no points. One point comes off again for every 1000 clean squares.
At 12 points your licence is suspended for six hours. You can still drive, nothing is taken from you, but the streak, carpool, car meet and road trip rewards stop until it ends, and then your points are back to zero. The licence never fines you: the red light fine is the only money a traffic offence costs. Patrol cars on police duty do not count.
No speed limit
There is no speed limit and no speed camera anywhere. Drive as fast as you like; only red lights, crashes and trees cost licence points.
The safe driving streak
Every square you drive without an offence adds to your streak. Every 3000 squares of unbroken streak pays 40 points and a Voyage Token, up to five times a day. Any offence starts the streak again from zero.
Mileage milestones
Every square you drive at the wheel is counted for life. At 1000, 5000, 15000, 30000, 60000, 100000, 200000, 400000 and 750000 squares you earn Voyage Tokens, from 1 to 50, and a new title: Sunday driver, Commuter, Road regular, Long hauler, Highway hand, Road warrior, Road legend, Endless road and King of the road. Each milestone pays once.
The weekly road trip
Every week five places are picked for the road trip. Drive into each of them at the wheel, in any order, and you earn 300 points, 12 Voyage Tokens and a road trip postcard for your bag. The list is in the menu and under /roadtrip, with how long is left before it changes.
The drive-through cafe
Drive onto the gas station forecourt in the village, stop, and order from your seat: coffee, americano, milkshake, orange juice, a sandwich, a chocolate chip muffin, a cookie, or the driver's combo of a coffee, a sandwich and a cookie. The order goes straight into your bag.
Hazard lights
The driver or the owner can turn on the hazard lights. They tick for everybody within earshot, inside and outside the car, and a driver coming your way within forty squares is told there is a car ahead with its hazards on. They switch themselves off after fifteen minutes.
The carpool bonus
Give friends a lift in your own car, not as a taxi, and every 500 squares pays 10 points for each passenger, up to three passengers and 300 points a day. Passengers playing on the same device or connection as the driver do not count.
The dashcam
The dashcam keeps your last twenty road events: the places you drove into, offences, rewards, workshop work, drive-through orders and hazard lights, each with how long ago it happened. It is cleared when the server restarts.
The car meet
Every Saturday from 17:00 to 21:00 server time there is a car meet on Main Street in the village, around 108 across and 310 up, just north of the gas station. Park your car there and stay close to it for ten minutes to earn 100 points and 3 Voyage Tokens, once a week. Show off your car and everyone near you hears its model, colour, name, plate, tuning, mileage and your title. Stand next to somebody else's car and cheer for it: one cheer each. When the meet ends, the car with the most cheers, at least three, is the crowd favourite and wins 5 Voyage Tokens. Staff can open an extra meet at any time.
This week's top drivers
The board lists the ten drivers who covered the most squares this week.
Staff commands
/carmeet start minutes opens a car meet for 10 to 240 minutes, /carmeet stop closes it, /carmeet on its own tells you whether one is on. /licencereset name clears a player's penalty points and any suspension.
