Cabin crew and railway stewards

Where to sign on

Flights: the cabin crew room at the Skyport, in the departures concourse east of gate 1, the Skyport check-in desk, or the departure desk of any destination airport. Press shift and enter in the crew room, choose Work a flight as cabin crew at a desk, or type slash crew anywhere. Every flight that is boarding with at least one passenger aboard and has a free crew seat is listed. Each flight takes two crew at most. You do not need a ticket; you fly the whole flight from a jump seat in the galley and step off at the destination with the passengers.

Trains: stand on a Countryside Railway platform while a train is in, type slash crew and sign on as steward. Your staff card is your ticket.

Duties on a flight

Press shift and enter on board for your duties menu.

Safety demonstration, before the take-off run: pick the four steps in the right order, the seatbelt, the exits, the oxygen mask and the life jacket. More than two slips and you start again.

Drinks trolley, while the trolley is out after take-off: four passengers order, hand each the right thing. Three of four right is a duty done.

Call button, while cruising: every minute or so a passenger calls. Pick the right answer within 40 seconds. When a real passenger presses the call button in their cabin menu you hear it and can go to them; that also counts.

Seatbelt check, during the descent: walk the cabin; anybody still standing is sat down and buckled in.

Pay

At least three duties make a shift. When you land you are paid 40 points plus 25 for every duty, up to six duties, so 190 at most, plus a Voyage Token and season pass experience. If you do fewer than three duties, the airline bills you the economy fare for the flight instead, so signing on is not a free ride.

Trains: between every two stations serve the carriage from the trolley (steward duties in the journey menu); with three of four orders right you are paid 20 points when the train reaches the next station. The shift ends when you get off; two stretches or more count as a train shift.

Limits: six shifts and 900 points a day, flights and trains together.

Ranks and rewards

Trainee cabin crew, then Flight attendant after 5 flight shifts, Senior flight attendant after 20, Purser after 50 and Chief purser after 100. Each rank is also a title for your name. Trophies: your first shift, 25 shifts, 100 shifts. Title Railway steward after 10 train shifts. My crew record, in the slash crew menu, shows your shifts, calls answered and today's pay.

Commands

slash crew, or slash cabincrew, opens the crew menu. It is also in the Flights menu, as Cabin crew and railway stewards, in every departure desk menu, and in the journey menu on a train while you are a steward.
