Aurora isles

Getting there

Aurora Isles is a tropical island reached only by plane. Fly from the skyport; the flight takes about ten minutes. You land at the airport on the south coast. The departure desk for the flight home is at the airport too. Type /island at any time to open the island menu. It is also in the game menu under Village life, More to do.

The island

Aurora Town, with the market square and the Aurora Grand Resort, is just north of the airport. Coral Point fishing village and the long pier are in the south west. The salt pans are on the west coast, and the mangrove swamp with Twin Veil Falls in the north west. The jungle trail runs north from town through the rainforest to the Temple of the Dawn, which has a crypt beneath it. Aurora Falls is in the north of the rainforest. Mount Ember, the volcano, rises in the north east, with the lava tube in its side. The Echo Caves are on the east coast, and the coral reef lagoon lies off the east shore. Turtle Beach is the east end of the south beach, and Moonlight Cove is the quiet beach in the far north.

Danger

Pythons live in the mangrove swamp, and one in the Echo Caves. Monkeys and leopards roam the rainforest. Boars graze in the eastern meadows. A wolf twisted by the heat has its den in the lava tube, and a shark hunts beyond the reef. The crater of Mount Ember and the two lava fields burn you every second or two while you stand on them, the crater most of all.

Gathering

Stand in a gathering spot and press shift enter. Each spot tells you its name when you walk in.

Coconuts: shake the palms on the south beach.

Pearls: dive at the pearl beds over the reef. Not every dive finds a pearl.

Volcanic glass: the obsidian field on the south side of the volcano. You need a pickaxe in your bag; any kind works.

Orchids: the orchid glade in the rainforest, west of the jungle trail.

Island hardwood: the ironwood grove in the rainforest. You need an axe in your bag; the hardwood axe works too.

Sea salt: the salt crust on the drying pools of the salt pans.

Ancient relics: the burial niches of the crypt. Relics are rare. A few tries a day, and at most one relic a day.

Every resource has a short wait between tries and a daily limit. The island menu, Gathering, tells you what is left today.

People and quests

Eight islanders give quests. Stand on one and press shift enter to talk: Harbour Master Tavita in his office in the fishing village, Fisherwoman Mele on the long pier, Resort Manager Leilani in the resort lobby, Auntie Losa at her market stall, Ranger Noa in the ranger station on the jungle trail, old Pua at the salt pans, Doctor Kalani at the volcano research camp, and the temple scholar Doctor Imani on the temple plaza.

There are 19 quests. Some ask you to bring things, some to look closely at special places with shift enter, and one to face the Temple Guardian. Every quest pays Voyage Tokens, ln point and sometimes items, once.

THE STORY OF THE LOST TEMPLE: start with Harbour Master Tavita. His letter leads you to Doctor Imani, the murals of the temple, the crypt and its relics, the altar, and finally the Temple Guardian itself.

Food and drink

Resort Manager Leilani's beach bar at the resort serves coconut water, tropical punch, a rum coconut cocktail, a grilled island fish plate and a coconut rice bowl. Auntie Losa's market stall sells grilled pineapple skewers, coconut water and coconut rice every day, not only on market day. Everything is eaten on the spot and paid in ln point, and it fills you up and quenches your thirst exactly like the same food from your bag. The cocktail goes to your head. Coconuts you shake from the palms can be eaten too.

The crystal pool deep in the Echo Caves holds sweet fresh water: look at it with shift enter and you drink, once a minute. The spray of Aurora Falls and the lagoon at Twin Veil Falls get you wet.

The temple guardian

A huge tusked beast sleeps under the Temple of the Dawn. It wakes by itself every few hours; the whole world hears a warning fifteen minutes before, so there is time to fly over. It also wakes when someone places three ancient relics on the altar at the back of the crypt. It then fights in the temple courtyard for 25 minutes. It gets stronger the more people are on the island, so bring friends.

Everyone who strikes it shares the reward when it falls: Voyage Tokens and ln point, a bonus for the one who dealt the most damage and for the final blow, and sometimes an ancient relic. You get a share twice a day; later fights still count for your quest and records.

Island events

TURTLE HATCHING: on island nights, every hour and a half or so, the sea turtles hatch on Turtle Beach. Go to the turtle nests in the dunes and press shift enter to help a hatchling reach the sea. Up to five a night. The first ten you help each day pay a Voyage Token each.

FISHING CONTEST: every day at 18:00 universal time, for fifteen minutes, on the long pier. Stand on the pier and press shift enter to cast, up to 15 casts. The deep water at the end of the pier holds bigger fish. The three heaviest fish win Voyage Tokens and ln point, and everyone who caught something gets two tokens.

MARKET DAY: every day from 16:00 universal time for three hours. Auntie Losa in the market square pays Voyage Tokens for island goods: coconuts, orchids, sea salt, volcanic glass, island hardwood and pearls. Up to 10 tokens a day.

Limits

Ln point from island events and the Guardian is limited to 800 a day. Quest rewards are paid once each. You cannot gather or hand in quests while carrying an arena bag.

Announcements

Island news, such as the Guardian waking, the fishing contest results and the turtles hatching, can be switched off in the announcements settings.

Standing, titles and trophies

Every place by plane remembers you. Your first landing each day, every sight on its sightseeing card, every postcard you send from there, every quest and every victory over its great beasts raise your standing in that place. Three quests done in one place earn the title Friend of that place, six a trophy as its honorary citizen. Your first victory over a great beast such as the Temple Guardian, the Reef Queen or Old Kuma puts a trophy in your cabinet. See the page The travel planner and your travel companion.
