A few habits protect your game account, your forum account and everything else you log in to.

Use a different password for every service. The most common way accounts are taken over is a password reused on a site that was later leaked. A password manager, including the ones built into Windows, iOS and Android, remembers them for you and fills them in.

Codes by e-mail. Life in Nature asks for a code sent to your e-mail address the first time you log in from a new device. That is the point of the code: someone who has your password but not your mailbox still cannot get in. Never give a code to anyone, whatever reason they give. The staff will never ask you for one.

Keep your e-mail address current. Password resets and device codes go there. If you change your address, change it in the game before you lose access to the old one.

Devices. Only log in from devices you trust. If you have used a shared or borrowed computer, change your password afterwards.

Messages that ask you to act quickly. A message that says your account will be deleted unless you reply with your password, or that you have won something, is an attempt to trick you. Real staff communicate through tickets and never need your password.

Forum logins. When your forum account is used from a connection that was never seen before, you are told inside the game. If that was not you, change your password straight away and open a ticket.

Software updates. Keep the operating system, the browser and the screen reader updated. Most updates close security holes that are already being used.

If you think your account has been touched by someone else, open a ticket from the game menu as soon as possible; the staff can look at the login history.
