Polls And Ideas

POLLS: ASKING EVERYBODY WHAT THEY THINK

WHERE IT IS
Open the game menu, choose Village life, then Town and law, then the town office. Polls are in there, next to the record and your identity card.

MAKING ONE
Anybody can start a poll. Write the question, write the answers people can choose from, and decide one thing before you start: whether people may leave comments as well as vote. Once the poll is running that choice cannot be changed, so think about it first. A question that will turn into an argument is better without comments.
Links cannot be put in the question, in the answers, or in the comments.

WHILE IT IS RUNNING
Anybody can vote once and see how the votes are going. If comments are open, anybody can leave one and read what others have left.
No sound is played and no announcement goes out when a poll is created. Nobody is interrupted. People find polls by going and looking at them. Staff are told, so that they can keep an eye on what is being asked.

CLOSING
A poll closes on its own twenty-four hours after it was started. You do not have to do anything.
A closed poll does not disappear. You can still open it, read the question, see the final count and read every comment. That is on purpose: a poll is worth something afterwards, as a record of what people actually thought.

WHAT A POLL IS AND IS NOT
A poll is how you show that a lot of people want the same thing. It is not a vote that decides anything by itself. The final call belongs to the developer and the management team, and that is written on every poll screen so that nobody is misled about it. A poll that a hundred people agree with is a strong argument. It is still an argument, not an instruction.
